MUSAVIT (Music/AV/IT) Ministry

About the Music Team

Music is a vehicle that transcends time, emotion, culture, and language as we connect with others. It unites us when we gather for the ceremonies of life and in times of uncertainty. As God’s people, we are all called to share God’s glory through music. (Romans 12:3 – 8). Sembpres sees music as an important area of development and creating bonds/fellowship among the church family.

When we come together to join our hearts and voices in praise to God for His greatness and in thanks for His goodness, our Music Team serve as prompters to prepare, and invite, and support the key musical ensemble in our church — the congregation itself! The repertoire of our musical worship comprises a mixture of contemporary songs and traditional hymns / choruses.

If you would like to serve in the Music Team, we welcome you to contact the MUSAVIT Director, who would be happy to conduct a short audition and interview with you. On passing the audition, you will be assigned a role accordingly in the Music Team respectively. While musical knowledge/ability and prior experience in contemporary or classical music are preferred, a willing heart and a committed spirit are ultimately the most important requirements.

Music and Youth

Besides worship duties, we recognise the importance of education for existing Music Team and Choir members and training and exposure for new musicians to ensure the continuity of the ministry. In particular, learning music strengthens the educational, physical, and emotional development of children and youth. At Sembpres, we encourage our community to take interest in and develop a passion for worship music and dance, and also provide opportunities for people who have undergone/are undergoing music training to bless others with their talent.

About the AV Team

The A/V Team is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the church’s audio-visual equipment, as well as the media and IT support to facilitate the smooth conduct of the worship service,. Members of the A/V Crew mix and control the sound and lighting for worship services and special events such as conferences, concerts and drama presentations. The Media Crew operates computers and video projectors to provide slide presentations, video images and other visual displays on the projection screens.

The A/V Team serves quietly behind the scenes, and usually goes unnoticed until a problem occurs. In fact, it is said that the best praise that the A/V crew can receive is none at all! Nevertheless, the A/V Team’s role is absolutely essential for the viability of church services in today’s context.

Anyone, from teenagers to senior adults, especially who has prior experience in graphic design, A/V systems, network administration or video editing/animation are encouraged to join the A/V Team. While having a technical background is an advantage, ultimately no prior knowledge/experience is required since most A/V competencies can be acquired via on-the-job training. Please contact the A/V Team Manager if you would like to serve in the A/V Team!
